APOLO launches its own tracker
Market launch of a solar tracker with in-house technology.
After years of design and testing carried out by the R&D Department, during the present half of 2008 Aplicaciones Solares Apolo has presented the APOLO 112 single-post dual-axis solar tracker in Madrid, Shanghai and Munich.

Aplicaciones Solares Apolo has designed an innovative solar tracker, unique on the market, which will enable an output level to be obtained 40% higher than that of fixed systems.

With its 80m² grille, the APOLO 112 single-post solar tracker stands out for its sturdiness, reliability, easy installation and power ranges up to 11.2 kWp, so that at this time it has become a vital solar farm component, essential for the near future. With its height of 5100mm and its weight of 3500 Kg APOLO 112 is one of the sturdiest trackers on the market.

The Aplicaciones Solares Apolo R&D Department has designed a machine that will enable an output to be obtained 40% higher than that of fixed systems. For this purpose, the APOLO 112 solar tracker has an azimuthal rotation angle of 220° and an elevation angle of 70°. Both shafts are operated by means of a motor-reducer-ring gear system, which makes this dual-axis system unique on the market. Thanks to its innovative control system based on astronomic positioning by means of trigonometric formulation, it provides with a precision with errors in respect of the sun’s position of less than 0.5º.

For this purpose, the sophisticated calculation loop used in aerospace technology applications is in operation all the time, unlike other systems that merely make use of tables for the same function. In this way, not only is the orientation optimised but also the power consumption. This solar tracking system may be implemented via satellite, which endows it with even more precision.
